TASKERS GAP
NATIONAL FOREST TRAIL

This is a great area because with so many trails in one area,
it offers a wide variety for your riding pleasure, much of it
with scenic mountain top views. There are all degrees of
difficulty, from old logging roads with scenic views to
canyons where the trail and a stream share the same path.
The stream bed trail through Taskers Gap is very rocky for
about 200 yards, but we have been riding through this area for
over nine years without ever having a problem with any of the
horses or mules. The trail around the end of Bowman Mountain
(elevation 2400 ft.) affords some really good views both to the
south-east towards Catback and Middle Mountain and to the west
through Moreland Gap. This area has so many trails that you can
spend easily eight or nine hours on a fine ride. The only downside
with this area is that it is shared with the occasional ATV rider, but
we have found them to be courteous when you meet them and will
stop and shut off their machines until the riders have passed.
